Professional Biography
Dr. Hordinsky is Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Dr. Hordinsky is nationally and internationally recognized for her expertise and research in hair diseases and the peripheral nervous system as it relates to hair follicle biology. Dr. Hordinsky completed her dermatology residency at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Additional training in dermatological and clinical research was subsequently supported with a fellowship from the Dermatology Foundation and then a National Research Service Award from the National Institute of Health. Since 1997, Dr. Hordinsky has led the Department’s Division of Clinical and Translational Research. This unit now supports the growth, development and execution of the majority of the department’s industry, foundation, investigator initiated and federal sponsored studies conducted by medical students, residents, and faculty.
Dr. Hordinsky is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Alopecia Areata Foundation, Chair of the AmericanAcademyof Dermatology’s NIAID Liaison Committee and a member of the Industry Relations Committee. She is also an active participant in the activities of the Society for Investigative Dermatology, Dermatology Foundation, and the American Dermatological Association. Dr. Hordinsky has been a recipient of the Universityof Minnesota and Minnesota Medical Foundation’s Humanism in Medicine Award and is a former Department of Dermatology Teacher of the Year. She is an active participant in medical school affairs and is Co-Medical Director of the Dermatology Clinic, University of Minnesota Physicians.
