Professional Biography:
Dr. Puma was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, and moved shortly after birth to Caracas, Venezuela where she spent most of her childhood. She went to the Jose Maria Vargas Medical School at the Central University of Venezuela, and graduated in 1997. She then came to the Twin Cities, interned at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), and later pursued her residency in Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, which she completed in June of 2003.
Dr. Puma is board certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. Within her field, she has a developed a strong interest in patients with psoriasis and cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL) and has spent time training in the use of phototherapy. She was in private practice at Dermatology Consultants in St. Paul for a year prior to moving to Denver, CO in the summer of 2004. She saw patients with CTCL and other lymphoproliferative disorders of the skin in the CTCL Clinic at the University of Minnesota once a month and she staffed the weekly resident continuity clinic at Hennepin County Medical Center. She has remained as adjunct external faculty while in Denver, both at the University of Minnesota and at HCMC.
